Participating with RiverReach is a great way to contribute to the research of riverine landscapes, while also learning about riparian ecosystems. By taking regular, standardized images of rivers, participants can help researchers track changes over time, and discover new patterns in flooding, channel movement, riparian ecology, and monitor natural channel restoration designs. This standardized data can be used to help inform conservation efforts and management decisions. As a participant, you will be able to access and view collected data, providing a unique opportunity to learn more about the watershed in your area. By participating in the RiverReach project, you are making a tangible and meaningful contribution to watershed conservation and management. Join our community of citizen scientists today by submitting your first RiverReach photo.
Submit a RiverReach PhotoYou can help make a difference as a citizen scientist by snapping and uploading a RiverReach photograph. Your photograph will contribute to a time series analysis at your RiverReach location.
Warming temperatures and increased rainfall can change the erosion and migration patterns of our river systems and associated habitats. Continuous photographic monitoring allows conservation managers and researchers to create a time lapse series of channel migration, bank stability, and riparian environments, to further our understanding of watershed behaviour at each RiverReach location.
The RiverReach dataset is easy to contribute to. Simply place your cell phone on a RiverReach stand at participating locations, take a photograph with your camera lined up on the stand, and upload on the spot with the QR code or by opening the website once you have WiFi access.
